While putting on my makeup, I had to stop mid-beautification and come share with you.  God sent me a glimpse of eternity last Sunday and I didn’t realize it until the mascara was being applied.  He sent this glimpse through a quiet messenger.

For years, I have been praying for my friends who are atheists, many are adamant ones. Most are full of integrity and sometimes fun.  They love their spouses and children.  We engage in respectful discussion because I like to hear what they have to say.  I never shut them down.  They all know I’m an unashamed Christian.

But, like I said, I’ve been praying for them for awhile.  I especially pray for their children.  I want those kids to have hope-filled future not just a pragmatic, you-pay-taxes-then-you-die kind of existence.

I want those kids to have exuberance and sonshine in their souls;
to have hope through fear;
to have courage and comfort that the creator of the universe cares;
to look forward to an end’s beginning.

The messenger God sent was a reserved woman who was visiting the beach and happened to worship with our congregation.  She was sitting behind me and looked a little lost.  God whispered that I should welcome her.  “But, I don’t think she wants to be bothered, Lord.”  “Just welcome her, Bonny.”

I said #YestoGod and welcomed her.  In spite of seeming shy, when I asked her about her life, she readily opened up and filled me in on some key details.

My sweet messenger shared that her parents are atheists.

And just now, it dawned on me.  My quiet encounter with a stranger sharing this intimate detail was God telling me to keep praying!  He hears. I said yes to God and had a glimpse of eternity.  It’s filled with atheist’s children, as well as our own.

He hears your prayers, too, my beautiful friend!  Whatever you have been dealing with and praying over, he hears. Finding that he is paying attention might just take you saying yes to God.

“I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy,” Psalm 116:1.
