People have asked me why I named this blog OysterBed7.  Even though I write about sex a lot, it had little to do with being an aphrodisiac and much to do with lustrous pearls.

When a piece of grit (sand or bacteria) annoys an oyster, the oyster secretes ‘mother-of-pearl’ to encase the irritant.  It secretes layer after layer until the sharp edges are smoothed and a pearl is formed.

Once the pearl is formed, the oyster no longer recognizes the irritant.  It only sees a new beautiful part of itself.

Each of us has grit thrown our way;  relationship trouble, children with learning disabilities or behavior problems, poor health, lost income, death of a loved one, people taking what we say the wrong way, even a dream that comes to fruition but it’s not how we imagined.

You take this messy life and do the best you can, until you are overwhelmed.

To form a pearl, you first have to come to terms with what Jesus said.

“Blessed is the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven,” Matthew 5:3.

What does it mean to be “poor in spirit?”  It is when you realize you are dependent upon God in every aspect of your life, not just salvation.  That’s when you are intimately acquainted with poverty of spirit.  Without the light of Jesus we live with a dark spirit.

Only he can help you layer the grit of life with something beautiful.  When you allow him to layer your bitterness with forgiveness or your sharp attitude with love, you are becoming a pearl, my sweet sisters!

Effective change begins with first allowing yourself to be open to change and then pursuing necessary action through His direction.

The gate into God’s Kingdom is when we face the grit of low sex-drive, sorrow, pain, disappointment or burst bubbles and know we can find no hope alone.  Realizing our total dependence upon God is to be truly blessed.  It’s freeing.   I don’t have to come up with the answers.  When I’m at a loss and take it to the Lord, circumstances are created or ideas pop into my head.  I know these things can only be from the divine.

From each gritty experience, a beautiful layer is created within.  It happens through a lifetime.  There’s a layer of faith, a layer of peace that passes understanding, a layer of wonder from experiencing the Holy Spirit, a layer of perseverance, a gorgeous layer of wisdom and maturity, and lastly a luminous layer of joy.

Edwin Markham says, “Sorrows come to stretch out spaces in the heart for joy!”

When we allow ourselves to be drawn to God by our hurts and losses, we witness outcomes far beyond what we could imagine.  We, in turn, can aid others through their grit by helping them realize ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for they will see and experience the Kingdom of Heaven.’

Embrace the grit and wash it in the Holy Spirit.  Soon you won’t recognize the sorrow.  Your spirit will be transformed into Christ’s luminescent pearl.

Low-libido sisters, I wish for you to see how you can be transformed into a pearl.  Your marriage can be transformed as you take steps to become a wife who longs to connect with her husband in the marriage bed.  Don’t lose hope.
