From Psalm 73….
Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart
But as for me, my feet had almost slipped.
I had nearly lost my foothold.
For I envied the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
They have no struggles,
their bodies are healthy and strong.
They are free from the burdens common to man;
they are not plagues by human ills….
Our human sense of justice screams when crooks seem to get ahead. However, in the verse above, we can re-word ‘wicked’ and ‘arrogant’ to just say ‘others.’
Sometimes, we just look around and think that others are doing so much better. David is realizing that he almost fell into the comparison trap. His feet had almost slipped from the stronghold of God’s goodness.
Psalm 73 continued…..
When I tried to understand all this,
it was oppressive to me.
till I entered the sanctuary of God;
then I understood their final destiny….
Thinking life for others is easier can overwhelm us with burden we don’t need to carry. Self-pity is a burden. Trying to understand unfair scenarios is draining. It is not the freedom Christ wants us to have.
David goes on to realize the blessing in his life.
Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory…..
The earth has nothing I desire besides you….
God will guide you in your purpose. The final destiny of another’s life story is different from your final destiny.
In comparing yourself to others do you feel like:
a freak
an outcast
you are unworthy and weird?
Draw near to God and he will hold your hand.
Whether you are low libido or high libido, that’s who you are. The remedy for feeling weird is knowing God has a specific plan for your weirdness. Let’s rephrase that, he has a specific plan for your uniqueness. He is going to hold your hand and show you what he has in store for you. He may show you in a startling way that makes you uncomfortable, maybe even angry. Or, he may gently ease you into it.
He needs you to help fulfill your purpose because: You are worthy. You are wanted. You are desireable.
Nothing I desire on earth compares to Him using me in his grand scheme. How humbling it is to see the creator of the universe using you for good. Who am I to be used by God? I am just a peon.
Here’s the key: We can’t see his plan for us unless we are looking for it.
What’s been your biggest complaint lately? Well, that’s probably where you need to start looking to see him working in your life. I think our complaints equal our weaknesses. God shows us his strength through our weaknesses. Our purpose is oftentimes our weakness.
My biggest complaint used to be our sexual conflict. God showed me that I was being ungrateful for his design of marriage. That made me mad.
God is good. He let me simmer for a while and then kept working on my heart. I am so happy that he did not turn away from me in my anger! He kept working on the Forgiven Wife’s heart, too.
If you are mad about sexual intimacy, I understand. But, remember God is still near. Let him take you by the hand, give you counsel and show you the glory of a marriage in harmony.
During the span of a week, sexual intimacy may not even take an hour or two. But, I’m tellin’ ya sweet sister, that small fraction of weekly time will set a new tone to your marriage. I’ll venture to guess that you will no longer compare your marriage to others.

Positive Affirmation
I will hold fast to your hand dear Lord. I will hold fast knowing sexual intimacy is a strength in my marriage. I will hold fast knowing I am a sexually charged creature.
