BEFORE I OPEN MY EYES
Am I weird that upon first waking, before I even open my eyes, I can pretend to the point of delusion that I am waking in a different place?
If I’m feeling nostalgic, before opening my eyes, I remember the placement of my white French Provential furniture in my childhood bedroom. It’s nearly time travel, because I can feel like I’m actually 12 years old again. I can feel it so intensely it’s almost a shock when I do open my eyes and I’m an adult.
Or, if I need a vacation, I remember the smell and feel of our rustic beachside apartment in Barbados. For just a few moments, I’m actually there. We’ve once again successfully escaped to paradise.
I mentally turn to these two locations a lot, because, they were places of complete rest.
Do you do this?
In my research, I’ve found a similar waking exercise called “Mindful Awakening.” The experts say it is a good way to counter stress.
It’s important to eliminate anything which may inhibit our sex drive transformation. Because, stress is to libido like pelvic-exam is to fun.
So, today, we are going to work on a tool to dampen stress called “Mindful Awakening.”

“Before getting out of bed, resist the impulse to propel yourself into the day’s frenzy. Instead, lie still and take a few moments to experience how you feel and the sensations around you — how your head feels resting on the pillow, how the comforter feels on your body, or how the sun feels on your face.
“Mindful awakening” is how Eva Selhub, medical director of the Mind/Body Medical Clinics at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, puts it, and while the concept may sound corny, it can help set the tone for the rest of the day.”Mindful awakening helps elicit the relaxation response, which calms the mind and the body to a point where any stresses that come your way, you can deal with them rather than freaking out,” says Dr. Selhub.
Dr. Selhub says stress is usually the result of “negative babble”…so by quieting the mind, you can quiet the negative thoughts so that the stress response isn’t elicited in the first place.” She says the average American experiences the fight-or-flight response, characterized by an increase in heart rate, blood pressure and muscle tension, 50 times a day.
Try to remember how your feelings as you awoke felt, so that if anxiety starts creeping into your day, “you can go back to that feeling.” Or use mindfulness (which is simply being aware and present in the moment) throughout the day to keep you better grounded. It’ll help you communicate better with others, too.”
QUIET YOUR HEART AND MIND WITH PRAYER
Finding the ability to slow the pace of your mind takes effort. Learning to find it is usually due to necessity. You find it or go crazy. I hope the above trick will prove helpful for you.
Stress is not always due to bad things happening in our lives. Sometimes, stress is due to a lot of good things happening in our lives. Stress is still stress. And we need to slow down.
Sometimes stress isn’t from frenetic activity but a hurting relationship.
Wherever your stress originates, the most important element to anti-stress is PRAYER, especially prayers of gratitude. Gratitude helps us learn contentment. A Content, calm spirit is a vaccine against stress. Connect with the maker through Jesus Christ. His presence will fill you with the peace that passes understanding.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ,” Philippians 4:4-7
Positive Affirmation (positive verb: awaken)
I awaken my sexual energy. I awaken my spiritual, emotional and physical libido. Sexual intimacy with my husband is God-ordained. It is permitted and wonderful.
