We’re all sexually broken, you know. In the act that symbolizes the intimacy between Christ and his church, Satan has nearly mortally wounded humanity. It is the ultimate battle of spiritual warfare.
But, there’s a revival happening. Have you noticed it? God’s army is regaining strength, rallying. There are new ministries, podcasts, and blogs appearing daily taking a stand for sacred sexuality.
Since 2012, on the front lines of the battle, is Authentic Intimacy, a healing ministry. It is a team of women, led by Dr. Juli Slattery, showing the way to wholeness through Christ. The scope of their work came into my view as I helped promote AI’s books, Pulling Back the Shades (in response to, 50 Shades of Grey), and 25 Questions You’re Afraid to Ask about Love, Sex, & Intimacy.
Authentic intimacy isn’t a marriage ministry. It’s a women’s ministry. Juli addresses every female, whether single, struggling with gender identity, married, high drive, or low drive.
Since moving to Florida (14 months ago), I’ve had the opportunity to hear Juli speak on 5 different occasions. I’ve attended her class on sexual discipleship. Each time I come away feeling both incredibly inspired, empowered, and a bit heartbroken. I’m inspired by the great hope of Christ. I’m empowered with that which raised Christ from the dead, knowing that the Holy Spirit heals wounded and dead things. I’m heartbroken for those who haven’t found the hope, yet, and are still suffering intensely from sexual pollution (poor sexual choices or sexual victimization).
You might think that feeling heartbroken would deflate me, but it spurs me on. I want to share the hope with those who are crushed in spirit. You’ve heard me say, “Low-libido is not a permanent condition.” Sexual brokenness is not a permanent condition, either!
We suffer because we keep God far away from our sexual dilemma. Women usually complain about men compartmentalizing their lives. But, I believe women do just as good of a job at compartmentalizing when it comes to sex. In many women’s minds, God is kept out of that room in their heart. Light the candle of Christ, and let his fragrance fill that room in your heart. We must invite God in to find hope and healing!
“Everywhere I look, I see lives ruined by unfulfilled promises of love and sexual brokenness. God is able to redeem our pain and restore us to wholeness when we seek His truth and healing. It all begins with authentically knowing and trusting God,” Dr. Juli Slattery.
Hope is right beside you. Christ is just waiting for you to open the door and let him in. It only takes a simple prayer, “God show me the way to find hope. I believe you can heal and restore all. In Jesus name, Amen.”

If you are not familiar with Dr. Juli Slattery (formerly of Focus on the Family), see her bio here.
Honestly, I’ve become somewhat of an AI groupie. Juli is incredibly relatable. But, the reason I’m so drawn to this ministry is their submission to God’s leading, dedication to prayer, and to the truth of God’s Word. And I’ve witnessed rebirth. I’ve spoken with women who have taken Christ’s hand to climb out of the abyss of suffering.
I’m so much of a groupie that when my friend, J. Parker of hot, holy & humorous, asked me if attending the conference was worth investing in a significant amount of drive time. I said, “Yes! And, how about I tag along?” So, guess what? ROAD TRIP for Bonny and J. I’m flying to TX and we are driving to San Antonio together! Follow me on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with our adventure!
If you live in the San Antonio area, I think tickets are still available! Check out the event calendar above.
